Today we were talking to some friends, their son had made a goal for himself to hit so many home-runs this season. He has almost reached his goal, which is very cool. My husband made the comment that he should have set his sights higher, made it harder. He said, "He should shoot for the stars and hit the moon." Then my son said, "Technically wouldn't you shoot for the moon and aim for the stars? Because aren't the stars farther away than the moon?" Our lives quickly turned into a Seinfeld episode, or my son turned into Cliff from Cheers as we discussed this basic premiss. It was quite amusing. Hey, the kid had a goal, not many do. We should have celebrated that fact instead of discussing astronomy. But, our lives seem to reflect a sitcom instead. What the heck?
